Are we really blaming guns?

As people continue the heated debate over gun control, I have become frightened by what the consequences of such a ban would bring. We are currently being bombarded by rhetoric which paints firearms as the only weapons which can kill people.

The facts are that the city with one of the most strict gun laws in the nation has seen more people killed in it’s city than soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Even with these radical gun laws, Chicago’s murder rate is currently four times that of New York’s and double that in Los Angeles. Are the people supporting a ban saying they want to see these type figures nationwide?

In Chicago, more people were murdered than in areas with less gun restrictions. For example, more people were killed in Chicago in 2012 than in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, San Antonio, and Fort Worth COMBINED! So I am forced to ask the question. Do gun bans work? The “bad guys” will still have their guns as you can see.

Furthermore I keep seeing deadly knife attacks( yes, scores of people killed by a single person with a knife)(here’s one small example) in countries which do have gun control. Where there is a will there is a way. In twenty years maybe we’ll be discussing knife bans.

How many rights do we have to lose before we realize that this is now the nature of man, and the best way to protect yourself, and your family is with your own gun?
